New Broken Social Scene LP. After impressive solo outputs from Brendan Canning and Kevin Drew the last couple years (the latter easily one of my favorite albums), I'm itching for this release. First single "World Sick" is stunning.
I rarely go more than a few weeks without spinning some Everything But the Girl, and honestly that's what I need from solo Tracey Thorn: electro jams a la 2007's "It's All True." Probably not what we'll get, but it's a baller album cover.
Oh, hey there, Marina. I'll be seeing you and Penguin Prison in a few weeks.
You again! You always seemed winter to me, Joanna. YS was a lock-yourself-in-a-room-with-a-candle-and-an-orange-peel affair. But if spring's your thing in 2010, I'm on board. Last time I saw you I was tripping balls with visions of a drowning bear and a monkey. Peacocks and cheetahs this time. You've been reading Edward Said while we've been apart, but I haven't forgotten about you, and I can dig it.
See what I mean about these album covers? It's like all these awesome graphic artists got together in a room with one of those bingo spinners, pulled a ball that said Maypole and got down to business. Well done is what I'm saying.

So I got into Basia Bulat after hearing her on CBC3 (Yes, I listen to the Canadian radio stations) and then saw you had a post about her on here. You have good taste, Sam Ross.
I'm seeing her in a seventy-five seat church chapel Wednesday, and am quite excited for some autoharp-ing.
Hey, thanks Ben. That show sounds awesome. If you like Basia, you should check out Laura Marling. She's a bit more dark and Dylan-esque
It was a lovely show. She had that hammered harp for "The Shore", and I've never seen a group of musicians play with such joy. Having Meg Baird from Espers open was a wonderful touch.
For some reason, I'm not a big fan of Laura Marling. Something about her rubs me the wrong way, but it certainly won't hurt to give her another listen.
