Tracks from Robyn's forthcoming album Body Talk Pt. 1 have been leaking steadily. In hunting them down I came across her remix of an El Perro del Mar track from a few months ago which made me want to listen to the original. I never got into EPM, alternately humming along to and kind of loathing her single from a few years ago "Give to Get." There's something different about this track though. Some kind of yearning coupled with a Sade-esque sway. I think the word I'm looking for might be groove. The music video is hypnotic and maybe NSFW? And here's Robyn's remix. Really, it just kind of tweaks the bass and vocals a little, but it makes the whole thing more urgently lovelorn. Which is typical Robyn.
Update: Hold up! Check the original again. Am I taking crazy pills or is that bassline eerily reminiscent of Death Cab For Cutie's "Summer Skin"? What do you think?
