angela surf city

The Walkmen come roaring back with this cut off of their upcoming album Lisbon and they've got some decidedly end-of-summer (NOT YET GUYS) lyrics: "Back to school, back to work, can this go on forever? Angela ... life goes on all around you." I dug 2008's You and Me, but this is how I like my Walkmen tracks: frantic. Am I nuts or is lead singer Hamilton Leithause sounding more like Tom Petty than he used to?

Janelle Monae looks as doe-eyed and fresh-faced as a young Sinead O'Connor in this single-shot video. I think this is a smart move on her part, and it kind of fits into a cool dialogue with D'Angelo's "How Does It Feel" considering what happened to that guy.
